A Legendary Ship with a Storied Name
The First Enterprize tells the true story of the first ship in the United States Navy named Enterprise. Constructed in 1799, the story of the Enterprize is the story of the founding of the United States Navy, and a biography of many of the colorful naval captains and commodores who command her and her squadrons. She was one of the most famous ships of her day and her exploits are the reason the name Enterprise is so revered in the Navy today. Through the Quasi-War, Barbary War, War of 1812 and anti-piracy operations in the Caribbean, you will see the history of early navy from deck of the Enrerprize, and meet all of her captains, like Stephen Decatur who rose to fame as commander of this gallant little vessel. The World War II aircraft was named after this little schooner and went on to become the most decorated ship in the Navy, forever cementing the name Enterprise in the national consciousness.
